Introduction
A Safe and Welcoming Church; Safeguarding Children Policy and Standards for the Catholic Church in Ireland, 2024’ published by the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (NBSCCCI), is informed by and embedded in Gospel values and in the rights of children. It presents the most up-to-date, best¬ practice guidance that all members of the Catholic Church in Ireland should adhere to in order to ensure that all ministry with children is safe.
During September 2025 the NBSCCCI asked what the revision of the child safeguarding policy really meant for children and young people. Through an art competition we asked children to send us a piece of art that depicted a safe and welcoming Church to them.
We were really excited to recieve over 400 entries from children and young people across the country. Our hallways in New House are full of these joyful images.
