The NBSCCCI today welcomes the publication of the report of the Historic Institutional Abuse Inquiry. Our first response has to be to express our concern for the survivors of the abuse.

Last year the NBSCCCI met with the Chair and members of his Inquiry Team and shared our updated and revised child safeguarding policy and standards for the Catholic Church in Ireland, which were described as follows “it seems to bring clarity on complex issues by being both comprehensive and concise” by a member of the Inquiry Team.

The NBSCCCI will examine the HIA report  in detail, over the coming days with particular reference to the elements that relate to the Catholic Church and will ensure any recommendations are integrated into future policy and practice.

Training on Gevernance & Information Sharing scheduled for 22 November is postponed until a future date.

All Church Authorities will be notified when a new date is decided.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

The National Safeguarding Conference took place on the 13 & 14 October last. Over 200 delegates attended from all areas of safeguarding  within the Church. Follow the link to view the speaker presentations.
