His Grace, Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly is hosting an Ecclesiastical Provincial Area Meeting on the 20th November 2019 assisted by the National Office for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland.
The purpose of the event is for staff from the National Office to meet with Bishops, Provincials, Superiors, designated liaison people (DLP) and trainers from dioceses, religious congregations and orders across the Cashel ecclesiastical province area, to discuss common issues of interest to further develop best practice in relation to safeguarding children. Topics for discussion include:
- Current projects underway in the National Board
- Revision of guidance and requirements following Vos estis lux mundi (Child safeguarding only)
- Legal mechanisms for information sharing with the National Board
- Training and Support Strategy, training requirements and revision of the training manual
- International missionary practice
- Safeguarding Sundays

This training was for those who have no ministry with children and are not managing child protection cases. The purpose of this training was to help those in religious Church bodies understand the purpose of annual self audits and to provide practical advice on how to do this well.
This training was suitable for Church authorities or anyone involved in carrying out safeguarding audits for Church bodies who have no ministry with children and who are not managing child safeguarding concerns.
Charge was €30 per person which includes lunch

This session was for those who are currently registered as trainers with the NBSCCCI. This half day covered the following areas:
- Presenting the first draft of the new training manual to allow everyone to contribute to the review process
- Opportunity to network with other trainers from across the country.
- Outlining further support that is being developed for trainers.
Cost for this training is 30 euro per person (including lunch).
